COVERING SCHOOLBOOKS

E-Lam offers a service to Schools and Businesses alike for covering schoolbooks which takes the hassle and time away form you. Simply send the books to us, we will cover them and send them directly back to you serviced and ready for distribution.

There are many ways to cover and protect your paperback schoolbooks, from slip on loose leaf coves to various self-adhesive laminate's. The reason we would always recommend self-adhesive (non Removable) products over slip on covers is that they will protect your books longer and as they are part of the book they make your book stronger and last much longer.

ree

Self-adhesive covers adhere directly to the book, providing a snug and tailored fit. This reduces the risk of movement, slipping, or gaps that can occur with slip-on covers. Products like E-Lam's self-adhesive DIAMONDCLEAR range of covers are the ultimate book cover made of durable 250Micron PET, offering protection against spills, moisture, and wear better than some slip-on alternatives.

As slip on covers are not attached directly to the book, they are more likely to tear, wear out, or come off with frequent use. This can reduce their effectiveness in protecting the book over time. Since they aren’t adhered to the book, slip-on covers can shift or fall off, especially with frequent handling. This can leave parts of the book exposed and unprotected. Slip-on covers often don’t seal the edges or spine of the book, leaving gaps where water, dirt, or debris can enter and potentially damage the book.

What's the importance of covering a schoolbook with Self Adhesive Non Removable Book Covers.

Protection

  • Durability: Covering books with self adhesive permanent non-removable covers help protect books from wear and tear, including scratches, torn pages, or bent corners.

  • Spills and stains: Covers act as a shield against spills, dirt, and accidental damage.

Non Removable

  • Reduced Maintenance: Schools that reuse books year after year save time and resources, as the covers don’t need frequent replacement compared to lighter removable covers.

  • Better Investment: The books are better protected for long-term use, minimizing replacement costs.

Cost Savings

  • Prolonged use: Books covered with self adhesive non removable last longer. Covering books reduces the need for frequent replacements, saving money for individuals, schools, or libraries.

  • Shared books: In schools where books are reused, this type of cover helps maintain their condition for future students.

Aesthetic Appeal

  • A neat and covered book appears more professional and organised, encouraging a sense of responsibility and pride in taking care of school materials.

Keeps Information Intact

  • A well protected book ensures the text, illustrations, and other content remain legible and intact for longer.

Classic examples of damaged books

The below picture is a classic example of of a selection of books that have not been protected with non removable covers. The corners are all dog eared/bent, The spines are all damaged and broken and the spines have come away from the body of the books.

This can all be preventable if covered with a strong self adhesive cover like DIAMONDCLEAR from the get go. It is a small investment to make in your book but will have a longer lasting impact on the shelf life and will ultimately reduce costs of having to replace the books before their time.
